SATAO CAMP IN TSAVO EAST, KENYA

Nestled among the trees and overlooking a watering hole lies Satao Camp. A definite oasis in the vast shrubland of Tsavo East National Park. Satao Camp has 20 tents, all e-suite, thoughtfully positioned to ensure a full view of the camps "own" watering hole. The 20 tents are made up of 16 family tents and 4 suites each tent is constructed of sisal and boroti poles topped with a makuti roof, only the front of the tent is visible as each tent has its own patio with table and chairs. These African safari tents are exquisite; all are attractively furnished with locally made beds and unique African designs. Each spacious tent has a private bathroom with running water. At Satao, you are watching a variety of game right from your veranda of your tent, which is located directly facing the watering hole. After a long game drive during your Kenya safari at Satao, just relax with the sundowner and experience the feeling of Africa.

The chefs make the most of the fresh fruit, meat and vegetables available locally to prepare delicious meals. Dine in the open plan restaurant with meals freshly cooked on charcoal fires and home baked bread prepared in special safari ovens. The wildlife such as waterbucks and impalas at Satao Camp are literally residents of the camp because Satao was intellectually designed around a traditional migratory trade route and the tamarind trees that have been growing over the last 100 years attract the wildlife. At Satao Camp the eco-friendly approach goes beyond responsible nature conservation to include the manner in which the establishment is built and run, whether valuable resources are used sustainable and whether local communities are benefiting from ecotourism to the area.
